Armida Huerta Adventure Fund

Armida was a bright light in the Alpacka, and Mancos, communities. She always had a hugesmile, a story of her adventures, and was ready to jump in to help others around her, in any way she could. Armida led an inspiring life and was a gifted athlete. She was an avid packrafter and enjoyed dozens of packrafting adventures with her partner, Tami, throughout the desert southwest. She worked for Alpacka Raft for 10 years, where she was a highly valued employee who knew every step of making a packraft. As a woman of Mexican-American descent, Armida had a deep desire to engage with other people of color in the outdoors. 

The Armida Huerta Adventure Fund was born out of love by Armida’s partner and friends. It honors Armida’s connection to the outdoors and her desire to connect with other LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals to create opportunities for engagement in outdoor recreation. The fund will provide financial assistance toward gear and courses for both bikepacking and packrafting.
